Meet Tim: The Director - That’s me!

I am a filmmaker and an award winner (I won my fifth grade homeschool spelling bee). Prior to this endeavor I directed a documentary about missionaries in Africa, a litany of commercials, two music videos and the successful web series, “The Unemployed”. I also co-authored and directed two shorts which were official selections to the Doorpost Film Festival (2007 and 2009).

I am left handed and dyslexic (it took me four hours to write this). I blame my mother’s Catholic guilt and my father’s Jewish guilt for my insecurities and the sarcasm I use to hide them. I have curly hair which my mother says the girls will love. I, and many other girls, disagree. I do not mind talking about myself but I do not like writing bios or in this case autobios.

Thank you for reading,

Tim

Meet Kat Attaway: Our Producer

In her words:

Most recently I’ve been working with director Patrick Barry on his feature film VEER!. And I’ve been staying busy as Producer on this film (yay!).

I’m a business school grad, do a lot with finance and love the chance to hash out entrepreneurial ideas.

Thanks to the brilliant minds of Tim Driscoll and Joel Russo, this script has captivated me.

Meet Will Sherrod: Producer

Hello fans. I’d like to introduce the prolific, charismatic, Will Sherrod! Mr. Sherrod will be aiding us in the producing of this fine film.

A graduate of the Florida State University Film School, Will Sherrod has worked with Academy Award winning director Robert Zemeckis for the last six years, coordinating post production on projects such as Beowulf and A Christmas Carol.  He is currently in Atlanta for production on the Denzel Washington drama Flight.  Will enjoys classic Disney films, horror flicks, and is allergic to peanuts.  He is excited to go to great lengths to get The Lengths made.  It should be noted that he is terrible with puns.

Meet Joel Russo: The Writer

Joel Russo, long time friend, part time lover, full time writer.

In his words:

Hello internet people, search bots, porn entrepreneurs  and hyper-intelligent cats! My name is Joel Russo and I helped in the scribing of The Lengths.
I am a Florida native who hates the sun, which I feel is an important aspect for any writer. I have worked on various movies and short films and am excited to begin working on something I have had more to do with than just moving around sandbags and refilling coffee.

Meet Austin: Director of Photography

We are pleased to announce we have secured our Director of Photography; please welcome - Ms. Austin Smoak.
A native of South Carolina, Austin graduated in 2005 from Florida State University’s School of Motion Picture/Television.

As an AC and Camera Operator, she has had the chance to work with great cinematographers such as Sandi Sissel (ASC) , Patti Vanover (ASC) and Peter Hawkins. She’s worked for NBC, PBS and Hallmark on television shows such as America’s Most Wanted, The Today Show and NOVA. She’s also worked for Pixar and Capitol Records and with legends such as Sir Anthony Hopkins and Morgan Freeman.

Over the years Austin has developed her own visual style and method of storytelling while incorporating techniques from the great filmmakers whom she has been able to work with and learn from.

She has served as Director of Photography on the feature film Claire as well as several television pilots, music videos, short films, webisodes and documentaries. Recently, her work has included a group of Microsoft Halo commercials for the web and a documentary television series- Vampires.
Meet Dan: Editor

We are pleased to announce the addition of our editor, the mysterious, the wise, the smart-ass, Dan Ast.

Dan has been making movies for about half of his young life, starting with VHS Camcorders and tape-to-tape editing mixers up ‘til the “shoot-it-and-cut-it-on-your-phone” present-day. He loves editing and has cut a variety of short films, documentaries, feature films, DVD features and a TV pilot working both as a freelancer and also for Warner Brothers Studios. He’s just locked editorial on “East Stackton”, a short film shot in Louisiana, and he’s excited to take a whack at his next feature film editorial venture “The Lengths”.

Dan also has a passion for writing and directing. He is currently gearing up for pre-production on his second feature, while his first feature “Claire” (also staring Cory Driscoll and Corsica Wilson) is in it’s final stages of post. Dan is excited to be joining The Lengths team, and re-joining fellow Florida State Film School alumni Tim Driscoll and Austin Smoak.

Meet Cody: First Assistant Director

We are pleased to welcome the one and only Cody Gallo to The Lengths production Team. Cody will be keeping us moving and efficient on set.

Cody first met Tim and many other members of the crew in film school, which he subsidized with a loan from the United States Army. In an attempt to learn how to lead film crews through the chaos and combat of production, he volunteered for a six-month study abroad program in Baghdad, Iraq (Also sponsored by the U.S. Army). Surprisingly, within ten days of showing up, he was put in charge of a 16-man infantry platoon. After bringing all of his men back alive and unharmed, he decided he could probably take care of a film crew.

Cody lived in the Metro D.C. area for a year and, not straying too far from the military, he was the 1st Assistant Director on a series of narrative, choose-your-own-adventure style training films for the Army.

However, being a Southern boy unaccustomed to more than a day of snow and ice, he and his lovely wife, Natalya, picked up and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area before the next winter hit; they now live and work in the area. He most recently served as the 2nd Assistant Director, as well as a 2nd Unit Director, for an episode of “I (Almost) Got Away With It”, airing on Investigation Discovery.
